Mr. Scott Mitchell, Principal

Mr. Scott Mitchell was named the Principal of Brock's Gap Intermediate School, the newest Hoover City School, at its inception in 2011. He has led the school through opening as a 5th-6th grade configuration and now a re-established 3rd-5th grade intermediate school as of 2018. He has over 25 years of teaching and administrative experience, all of which have been right here in Hoover City Schools. Scott is a graduate of UAB and The University of Montevallo, with multiple degrees in education and leadership. He is the proud husband of Leanna Mitchell and a father of two teenagers, Jackson and McKenzie. Leanna teaches 2nd grade at Riverchase Elementary School in Hoover. Jackson and McKenzie are both currently students at Auburn University.

Outside of school, Scott can be found spending time with friends and family. He lives and worships in the Helena, AL community where he and his family have lived for the last 12 years. He loves outdoor activities, cheering on the Atlanta Braves and the Alabama Crimson Tide, and spending time with Maggie, the family’s goldendoodle.

Ms. Emily Dunleavy, Assistant Principal

Ms. Emily Dunleavy has over twelve years of experience in education. She received a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Alabama. She also received a Master’s degree in Instructional Leadership from Samford University. She began her career in Homewood City Schools as a second grade teacher and also served as the Instructional Technology Specialist. Ms. Dunleavy has most recently served as the Assistant Principal at Inverness Elementary School with Shelby County Schools. Ms. Dunleavy is passionate about building positive relationships with her faculty, staff, students, and community. She is excited to continue to build these relationships within Hoover City Schools!
